The HSE Governance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining governance frameworks that ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, regulations, and best practices. This role ensures that internal HSE programs are aligned with organizational goals and legal requirements, and supports continuous improvement by providing oversight, auditing, and strategic guidance.
ABOUT YOUR NEW JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Governance Framework & Compliance
- Develop and manage HSE governance policies, standards, procedures, and performance frameworks.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and internal standards.
- Conduct periodic risk-based audits and reviews of HSE practices across sites/business units.
- Lead HSE performance reporting, including key metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
- Strategic HSE Management
- Support the integration of HSE objectives into business strategies.
- Lead governance reviews and reporting to senior leadership and the board.
- Maintain a governance calendar ensuring timely internal and external reporting (e.g., legal filings, sustainability disclosures).
- Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
- Promote a culture of safety and sustainability through leadership and communication.
- Benchmark HSE practices and promote standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure lessons learned from incidents are captured, analyzed, and shared effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as liaison between corporate HSE and site operations, regulatory bodies, and third-party auditors.
- Coordinate internal and external HSE reporting (e.g., ESG disclosures, CSR reports).
- Provide training and awareness programs related to HSE governance and compliance.
ARE THSES YOUR SECERET INGRIDENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Certified HSE professional (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CMIOSH) is an asset.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in HSE management, with 3+ years in a governance or oversight role.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, compliance, and reporting frameworks.
- Experience in large, matrixed organizations or multi-site industries preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
